This week we have 4 remote learning days (Monday through Thursday). ALL assignments are due by Monday at 7pm. We are having our drive through at the St. John campus on Monday, May 18 from 5-7. In your child's school supply bag, that I gave back to most of you Monday, you will find two math workbooks. I encourage your child to work on them over the summer. Talk about what the pictures mean. Journals- Read a non- fiction book (use Epic app if you don’t have a nonfiction book) and write 3 facts about something new you learned. Reading- “Building Beavers” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCCJA0kV49E Complete Reading pages 429 (high-frequency words) and 430 (conventions). Science-Fill a sink full of water. Collect some items from around the house that are okay with your parents. Make a hypothesis (a good guess) about items that may sink or float. Test your hypothesis. Write sight words on paper, use a flyswatter to slap or place words on the floor and stomp the words as they are called out. Reading- grab a book (or more) and a flashlight and read under the covers. Make an ABABA pattern, AABBAA pattern, and an ABCABC pattern Journals- write three or more sentences about your favorite memory, thing about kindergarten. Read 15-20 minutes a day. Complete 20 minutes of i-ready for the week. Monday, May 11 Religion- Read the Pentecost Bible story on student page 1. Add the remaining fire flame stickers to the disciples heads. What three ways did the Holy Spirit appear to the disciples (paragraph 2)? Reading- Write sight words with markers on rocks. Bury the rocks in sand, rice, noodles, or colored water and go treasure hunting. You must read the word correctly to keep the ‘treasure.’ Reading- go to https://www.storylineonline.net/, pick a book for someone to read to you. Journals- make a Mother’s Day card, poster,or craft for your mom. Give to her on Sunday (do not worry about turning it in, but I would love to see a picture). Tuesday, May 5 Math-Naming Shapes Activity on page 258 (back page of Family Letter). Include, in the assignment a graph of the shapes your child found in your house and around your neighborhood (include 2D and 3D shapes). Examples: under cylinder draw and label a can of soup, for square a book. Looking for at least 10 examples. Art- get a sock and create a sock puppet. Send me a picture of your finished product. Reading- read a book, use your sock puppet to retell the story to your mom/dad/grandparent/sibling. Beginning, middle, end, favorite/least favorite part, did you like the story, etc. I would love to see a video or clip of the puppet show. Reading-finish letter scavenger hunt Religion- find Acts 1:6-11 in your Bible and read it or go to https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+1%3A6-11&version=NIV Then complete the “Go and Tell” Worksheet. Place them on the floor in a line and see how many you can read in a minute. Can you beat your best record when you try again? Read 15-20 minutes each day.
